The family of the late Agnes Wanjiru who was allegedly murdered by a British soldier is still seeking justice 12 years later.
It is alleged that Wanjiru, then 21, was murdered by a British soldier under the British Army Training Unit in Kenya (BATUK) in 2012.
Speaking in Nanyuki town during a session with the parliamentary departmental committee on Defence, her niece identified as Njoki questioned why it was taking so long for justice to be served.
Njoki expressed frustration over the delay in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
“We want Justice for Shiru (the deceased), we have waited for so many years, twelve years and we are tired. Now we want justice,” Njoki said.
“What are they investigating that is unknown to us, the person who murdered her wrote it on Facebook, he confessed what they did that day and made fun out of it. So, there’s nothing that’s unknown. So, we want justice,” Njoki added.
Additionally, she expressed her fear that the session with the committee will be another of such events, that have not brought justice to Wanjiru’s family.
“Now we are talking about the committee, once we keep quiet, until something comes up, that’s when the case will be revisited,” Njoki said.
The parliamentary committee on Defence, intelligence and foreign relations has initiated a public inquiry on BATUK.
British Officer Murders 21-year-old Agnes Wanjiru
The late Agnes Wanjiku was allegedly murdered by a BATUK officer in Nanyuki in March 31,2012.

It is reported that the identity of a British soldier who allegedly stabbed Wanjiru to death before dumping her body in a septic tank is widely known in the army.
However, by the time her body was found, all the British Army Training Unit Kenya soldiers who had been at the hotel had returned to the UK.
Other Victims of BATUK
Other victims of alleged atrocities committed by officers from the BATUK, include fire victims of the Loldaiga incident that reportedly destroyed more than 10,000 acres of vegetation.
Defence committee chair and Belgut member of parliament Nelson Koech expressed regret in the murder of Agnes saying that the committee was in the county for a fact-finding mission.
He further stated that they wanted to determine whether there could be other deaths or atrocities committed by the soldiers which are unreported.
He also warned that action will be taken on any foreigner involved in the murder of a Kenyan citizen.
“All those officers planning to train in Kenya, if any of them are involved in a crime or take the life of a Kenyan citizen, they’ll be arrested and taken to court,” Koech warned.
Laikipia East MP, Mwangi Kiunjuri assured the family of the deceased that they’ll get justice.
“Agnes family must get justice, it’s not only Agnes, but every other Kenyan who will be attacked by any foreigner,” said Kiunjuri.
