For James Munga, holding the keys to his new house in Elburgon is a dream come true.
As a beneficiary who applied for a two-bedroom house, he praised the initiative for making homeownership possible.
“In the beginning, I was hesitant and not sure if I should apply,” Munga said.
“But when I saw the project coming up, I didn’t waste time. Now I’m a new homeowner through Boma Yangu.”
He praised President William Ruto for fulfilling his pledge to provide decent and affordable housing, urging leaders to support such programs rather than politicize them.
Martha Maina, a public health assistant and now the proud owner of a studio unit, shared similar joy.
She said the rent-to-own model motivated her to register on the Boma Yangu platform, noting that the program gives Kenyans—especially young people—a chance to own homes early in life.
President William Ruto, on Monday, October 27, handed over keys to new homeowners, marking the third group of Kenyans to benefit from the government’s Affordable Housing Program.
The estate, which marks the third completed project under the Affordable Housing Program, comprises 220 housing units distributed across nine G+4 blocks, providing homes for an estimated 1,500 residents.
Creation of Jobs
Beyond housing, the project has transformed lives in the wider Elburgon community.
During construction, which began in September 2023, more than 1,000 locals were employed directly and indirectly, offering income opportunities for youth and women.
Local Jua Kali artisans were also engaged to make steel doors, windows, and rails — a move that linked small enterprises with government projects.

Modern Amenities And Facilities at Elburgon
The estate features modern amenities, including parking spaces, green areas, garbage receptacles, walkways, security lights, an underground water tank, and a borehole to ensure a steady water supply.
According to Housing Principal Secretary Charles Hinga, the estate comprises 60 studio apartments, 20 one-bedroom units, 120 two-bedroom units, and 20 three-bedroom units, forming a sustainable, self-reliant neighborhood.
Built in partnership with Top Choice Surveillance Limited, the project reflects the government’s growing push to make homeownership accessible to ordinary Kenyans — one estate at a time.
