German Ambassador to Kenya, Sebastian Groth, visited Kinyanjui Road Primary School to deliver a letter and gifts to Emmanuel, a pupil who had drawn a portrait of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
In a statement on October 16, Ambassador Groth presented the items on behalf of President Steinmeier, noting that the President was greatly moved by Emmanuel’s artwork.
The German envoy praised Emmanuel’s energy, creativity, and ambition of Kenyan pupils, saying their talent and determination could take them far. The gesture underscored the warm cultural ties and educational exchange between Germany and Kenya.
“Visited Kinyanjui Rd Primary this morning. Handed over letter and gifts to Emmanuel on behalf of 🇩🇪 Federal President Steinmeier,” said Sebastian Groth.
“He liked a drawing that Emmanuel made of him very much. Am always impressed by the energy and ambition of pupils. They can go very far!”

Sebastian Groth Visit to Kinyajui Road Primary
Kinyanjui Road Primary School was originally built with support from the German government.
In April 2025, German Ambassador Sebastian Groth and his French counterpart, Ambassador Arnaud Suquet, visited Kinyanjui Road Primary School in Nairobi.
During the visit, the two envoys handed over basketball equipment funded by France, specially designed to support children with hearing impairments.
Ambassador Groth described the visit as “great fun,” expressing admiration for the students’ energy and inclusivity.
The joint gesture came just a day before the Global Disability Summit, underscoring Germany and France’s shared commitment to promoting accessibility and empowerment through education and sports.
On that day, Sebastian Groth engaged in a friendly basketball game with a student during the Basketball Experience Clinic at Kinyanjui Road Primary School.
