The Kenya High Commission in Canberra, Australia, has announced scholarship opportunities for Kenyan students.

In a statement on Monday, November 18, 2024, the Commission announced the opportunities following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between it and Stanley International College.

According to the Commission, the MoU will see credible Kenyan applicants score full scholarships to study at the University based in Perth, Western Australia.

Eligible applicants who have attained at least a B plain in their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) were invited to apply for the two courses on offer.

The courses are Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Bachelor of Community Service.

The filled-out form is then expected to be submitted to the High Commission via the email address [email protected].

According to the Kenya High Commission in Canberra, all applications are expected to have been delivered by Friday, December 6, 2024.

The commission further maintains that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for the way forward on their applications.

The announcement comes after Kenya and Australia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two nations in 2023.

In a statement in August 2023, the State Department of Foreign Affairs said that the MOU commits to further develop friendship and widen cooperation and mutual contacts between the governments of the two nations.

Listed areas of cooperation were trade, health, education, regional security, defence, counterterrorism, food security, humanitarian assistance, environment and climate change, multilateral affairs, sports and tourism.

“We welcome today’s agreement with the Australian Government. We look forward to continuing our work together, especially now more than ever as the world arena faces challenges like climate change, food insecurity and conflict,” said former Director-General for Political and Bilateral Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador George Orina.
