The Ministry of Agriculture has announced job opportunities for the position of Principal Livestock Policy Research and Regulations Officers.
In an advert on Tuesday, February 13, the Ministry through Principal Secretary for Livestock Jonathan Mueke asked interested candidates to send their applications on or before February 28.
Duties for persons appointed as Livestock Policy Research and Regulations Officers include conducting livestock surveys, collecting data on livestock and livestock products, and carrying out research.
Other roles designated for the position include developing and monitoring standards and regulations; participating in research agenda setting, surveillance on compliance with implementation of livestock regulations, legislations and standards.
Requirements for the jobs
According to the Livestock Department, candidates interested in the position should meet several requirements including having a bachelor’s degree in either Veterinary Medicine, Animal Production, Range Management or its equivalent qualification in animal sciences from a recognized institution.
Candidates should also prove to have served in the grade of Veterinary Officer or Senior Livestock Production Officer JG L (CSG 9) or in a comparable position for a minimum period of three (3) years.
In addition, one must be registered by the Kenya Veterinary Board (for Veterinary Surgeons) or any other professional body for animal sciences and have a Certificate in Policy Formulation, Implementation and Evaluation or equivalent lasting not less than one (1) week from a recognized institution.

Other requirements set by the Ministry include a Certificate in a Management related Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
Candidates are also required to have shown ability and demonstrated merit as reflected in work performance and results and have a certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution.

How to Apply Livestock officer Jobs
To apply, interested persons were directed to make their applications by completing the PSC 2 form (Revised 2016) and submit through their supervisor.
All applications should be accompanied by copies of certificates.
The PSC 2 form is available for downloading from the Public Service Commission website www.public service.go.ke.

Once completely filled, the application form should be sent to the Principal Secretary State Department for Livestock Development-Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development Box 34188-00100 Nairobi or emailed to livestockvacancies@kilimo.go.ke.
Alternatively, candidates can hand deliver their forms to the human resource manager officer at Kilimo House, 2 floor room 2-17 on or before Wednesday 28th February 2024.
If successful, candidates will be entitled to benefits including a basic monthly salary (CSG 8/Job Group), a house allowance of Ksh35,000, a commuter allowance of Ksh8,000, and a leave allowance of Ksh6,000 once per year.
The officers will also have a yearly leave of 30 working days, according to the advert.
