The State Department for Labour and Skills Development has announced a second mass recruitment drive for jobs in the diaspora targeting specialist Kenyan nurses.
In a notice, the department indicated that successful candidates would secure employment in hospitals operated by government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).
The first mass recruitment drive for the nursing jobs was done in November 2023.
“The State Department for Labour and Skills Development is pleased to announce a second recruitment drive for specialist nurses for employment in the government hospitals in the KSA, Interested and qualified Kenyans are invited to apply for the positions,” the announcement read in part.

Qualifications and Requirement for the Jobs
The government through the state department explained that applicants for the positions ought to be medically fit females below the age of 45.
Additionally, candidates should be holders of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing or a Diploma of Nursing-Midwifery European Union “min 3 years post-secondary school.”
Also, they should be registered and licensed members of the Nursing Council of Kenya, and in good standing.
Applicants are also required to have a valid Kenyan passport and a Police Clearance Certificate. They should have a work experience handling patients in hospital-based care including inpatient, ICU and ER.
Further, they ought to have proficiency in speaking and writing English and must have a valid Prometric Results.
“If not, the same can be taken either in Kenya OR KSA. Prometric test cost to be deducted from the employees’ salary in 3 instalments. Data Flow Verification: Dataflow verification report for the education certificate and Nursing Council License or latest employment certificate is mandatory,” explained the notice.

Benefits and Salary Earned
The nurses will be given a one-year renewable contract by the government of Saudi Arabia to work in an 8 hour per day shift.
Additionally, they will earn a basic salary of Ksh144,086 (4,110.00 SAR) plus an additional Ksh10,341 (295 SAR) for every year of experience.
They will have a paid annual vacation with a free roundtrip economy ticket as well as earn overtime in accordance with the Saudi Arabia Labour law.
