SHA Updates
In an attempt to clear claims and ensure timely payments to healthcare facilities, SHA has disbursed Ksh1.25 billion for pending NHIF claims.
Ksh1.1 billion has been disbursed under the Linda Mama (LM) program while Ksh1.35 billion has been disbursed for SHA capitation payments.
The Social Health Authority (SHA) was rolled out on 1st October 2024, following the enactment of the Social Health Insurance Act No. 6 of 2023 effectively bringing the NHIF Act No 9 of 1998 to an end.
NHIF wound up its services on 21st November 2024 as per the law.
“Some healthcare facilities were initially unable to offer SHA services due to contractual challenges.
“We are pleased to report that contracts with these facilities have now been finalized and published, ensuring transparency and continuity in service delivery. We request that the HCPs should ensure that they sign the contracts to continue offering services to the public.”
