The National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) has shut down several companies in the country for scamming Kenyans.
Speaking during a tour at the Mombasa NITA premises on Tuesday, October 31, Principal Secretary of State Department for Labour and Skills Development Shadrack Mwadime noted that the move will protect Kenyans.
The PS noted that all the said companies were profiting by helping Kenyans secure jobs abroad.
However, the organizations had become notorious for overcharging Kenyans and in many cases scamming and leaving them in desperate situations.
“It is true that these companies have deceived so many Kenyans. But we have closed them down now and reduced the number to 500. We want Kenyans to know that it is just not any other company that can help them secure jobs,” stated Mwadime.
Additional 500 Companies to be Shut Down
Further the authority noted that they have identified 500 more companies, which will be screened before it makes a decision.
“We are still continuing with the vetting process, and we have identified 500 other companies that we will also take action against,” he added.

At the same time, the authority stated that the government will develop a model based on Middle Eastern culture to instruct those interested in working in those nations.
He added that it would ensure Kenyans become more employable and get better opportunities.
Also, the PS highlighted that the international market offered big employment opportunities to Kenyans, adding that it was their intention to share those opportunities with as many Kenyans as possible.
“Most people work abroad and return home to invest in business, which helps our economy.” We are not confined to Middle Eastern countries,” PS Mwadime stated.
“We also want to export our workforce to Western countries, particularly those who have completed technical degrees, so that they may obtain jobs and earn a livelihood,” he added.
