The Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs has invited Kenyans living in the diaspora into the country to take advantage of the country’s investment opportunities.
The Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary, Roseline Njogu urged Kenyans living abroad to attend a mega investment conference dubbed the Diaspora Investment Conference, 2023.
She announced that the conference would be held from the 13th to the 15th of December at the Kenyatta International Conference Center (KICC) in Nairobi
Further, she noted that the government recognized the important role played by the diaspora citizens to the Kenyan economy.
“This conference recognizes the crucial role that the diaspora plays, not just in our economy but also in our national pride,” Roseline Njogu noted.

PS Roseline noted that the conference would showcase the investment opportunities available across various sectors.
Additionally, she highlighted that the conference would offer networking and learning opportunities among the attendees.
“There will be specific plenary sessions, networking platforms. We will have various exhibition from various actors including real estate, fintech, the fungible assets and securities,” she added.
Govt Taps into Conference Tourism
Furthermore, Roseline Njogu cited that the conference would also have opportunities for investors to share their success stories.

“It will also highlight the diaspora investment success stories and will conclude with an investment tour and a cultural gala dinner,” Roseline stated.
Consequently, PS Njogu noted that the conference would climax in the Diaspora Excellence Awards.
According to the PS, the awards are meant to honor the people who had performed fantastically abroad and brought great honor to the country.
She further played on the fact that the conference would be held at the Kenyatta International Conference Center noting that it was a moment for the Kenyans living abroad to enjoy the views from the roof top of the mega conference center.
Notably, Kenya has been eyeing a boost in conference tourism in a bid to increase the foreign earnings into the country.
The Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife, Alfred Mutua cited this point noting that plans are underway to promote investments in adventure, relaxation, sports, conference and medical tourism.

Other Services Offered to Kenyans in the Conference
On top of that, PS Roseline said the conference would have consular services on site.
The consular services include registration of Kenyans, processing of documents such as birth and death certificates and National Identity Cards, renunciation of Citizenship or Dual Citizenship and burial or cremation of deceased Kenyans.
However, PS Njogu acknowledged those who could not make it to the physical event held at KICC noting that there would be the option to stream it virtually through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ YouTube and Facebook channels.
