Hanifa Safia popularly known as Honey Farsafi is one of the activists behind the Reject finance bill 2024 campaign on Twitter(X).
Farsafi has leveraged social media platform X to rally Kenyans against the proposed finance bill, asserting that it unfairly burdens the common Mwananchi with high taxes.
In her posts, she provided details on the time and location for the protests set for June 18, 2024, urging citizens to march to the parliament buildings to ensure that Members of Parliament do not pass the controversial bill.
In addition to mobilizing support, Farsafi called for peaceful demonstrations, stressing the importance of not disrupting local businesses or provoking law enforcement.
“One last thing again, this is a peaceful protest. Please maintain peace, do not interfere with people’s businesses, do not provoke or insult any police. Mambo itakuwa shwari,” she wrote in a post.

Hanifa Farsafi Mobilizing Reject Finance Bill Protests
Hanifa is an online activist who is known for being vocal on issues affecting Kenyans on social media platforms especially on Twitter(X).

The journalist went viral after she posted a video on X showing the poor sewer systems in Korogocho, Nairobi County.
In a past media interview, she explained how she once saw young children playing near the sewer, which posed threats to their health and the community in nearby schools and hospitals.
“I saw kids playing around the raw sewer which was not suitable for them, schools and hospitals around it,” she explained.
At the time, Farsafi posted the video on X and asked her followers to repost it and tag Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja to clear the garbage and sort the drainage system.
Consequently, Nairobi governor responded on the third day of the campaign.
“Sakaja responded on the third day of our campaign, but it was not well done,” she said.
The low standards of the work put in fixing of the sewer sparked even more reactions from netizens which successfully resulted to the upgrade of the system.

Likewise, she got information from Kenyans on social media asking her to call out the Nairobi County government over roads in pipeline. She went ahead to explain that the county government has continuously promised residents that it will be fixed which has not happened till today.
Hanifa has recounts that her audience have been the backbone of her campaigns in ensuring that the impacts is felt on the ground.
