Kenyan-born U.S. politician Huldah Momanyi Hiltsley says she nearly lost her party endorsement days after securing a decisive victory in the DFL primary, before winning the endorsement in a subsequent majority vote.
In a statement on August 20, Huldah announced that she had secured the Democratic-Farmer-Labor (DFL) endorsement for Minnesota House District 38A after a party vote.
She said the development followed what she described as attempts to block her endorsement after her victory in the DFL primary on August 11.
“I have tried to stay quiet and mind my business…but this was the last straw. Trying to block my hard-earned endorsement after all the work, sacrifices, time, resources, mudslinging, and after the voters of HD 38A already spoke loud and clear in the DFL Primary… is crazy to me,” Huldah Momanyi stated.

Huldah Momanyi Defies Attempt to Block Endorsement
According to Huldah Momanyi, she had remained silent over the issue until she felt the efforts to block the endorsement had gone too far.
She said the endorsement was eventually subjected to a vote during the SD38 Party Unit meeting, where she won by a majority.
Huldah Momanyi pointed to the August 11 primary results and the subsequent party vote as two instances when she said voters and party members backed her.
She thanked District 38A voters for their support and said she was ready to work with anyone willing to move the community forward.
“Thank you, SD38A VOTERS! I am ready to work with anyone who is willing to move this community forward and keeping it BLUE! On ward to November 3rd.” She stated.
Huldah Momanyi also said she was focused on the November 3 election and on keeping the district Democratic.
