The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has invited applications from individuals and organizations seeking accreditation in three categories.
In a notice dated August 6, 2025, the IEBC announced that all interested organizations must submit their applications through the IEBC Accreditation Management System (AMS) at https://ams.iebc.or.ke.
“The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) invites applications from organizations wishing to be accredited as Voter Education Providers, Election Observers or Media Practitioners for the upcoming by-elections and other planned electoral activities in the 2025/2026 Financial Year,” read part of the notice.
The IEBC is inviting applications from eligible organizations seeking accreditation in the following categories:

Voter Education Providers

Election Observers
-
Media Practitioners
The deadline for submission of applications is Friday, September 5, 2025, at 5:00 PM.
IEBC Invites Kenyans to Apply for Accreditation
Applicants are advised to ensure they have a stable internet connection when submitting their details online.
Moreover, the IEBC informed organizations seeking accreditation as Voter Education Providers that they must collect a Physical Address Authentication Form from the office of the respective County Election Manager.
Once completed, the form—along with all other required documents—must be uploaded through the IEBC Accreditation Management System (AMS) portal.
The Commission will conduct training sessions for all accredited organizations and subsequently issue Accreditation Certificates, Identification Badges, and other necessary support materials before the commencement of voter education activities.

Voter Education Providers
Interested organizations must meet the following requirements:
i. Provide a copy of a valid registration certificate.
ii. Have voter or civic education clearly stated as one of their organizational objectives.
iii. Demonstrate at least six months of experience in delivering civic or voter education.
iv. Submit their postal address, physical location, and contact persons.
v. Attach an organizational profile outlining their technical and financial capacity to deliver voter or civic education.
vi. Provide a valid Tax Compliance Certificate.
vii. Sign a Code of Conduct for Voter Educators prior to certification.

Role of Election Observers in Kenya
Election observers help promote free, fair, and credible elections in Kenya. They monitor the entire electoral process to ensure it complies with legal and democratic standards.
Their duties include observing polling activities, identifying irregularities, assessing the electoral environment, and offering recommendations for improvement.
By doing so, they enhance transparency, deter fraud, and boost public confidence in the electoral system.
Role of Media Practitioners in Elections
Media practitioners play the role in promoting transparency, accountability, and public participation in elections.
They inform voters, provide civic education, offer platforms for dialogue, report on electoral events, expose irregularities, and help counter misinformation.
