Head of Presidential Special Projects and Creative Economy Coordination Denis Itumbi has responded to claims that Deputy President Kithure Kindiki’s Head of Communication and Personal Assistant, Francis Gachuri, was removed from a State House WhatsApp group.
Itumbi responded to the claims through a social media post on Wednesday, poking fun at the reports and suggesting that he had instead forgotten to remove Gachuri from another WhatsApp group he jokingly referred to as “Kupepeta Ball”.
“By the way, Francis Gachuri, are you in that ‘Kupepeta Ball’ group? I also forgot to remove you from there. Let me finish what I’m doing and scroll through it. Or just tell me, and we’ll make it easier by removing you from all the groups,” Itumbi wrote.

He continued with another sarcastic remark, asking Gachuri to share an invitation link to a WhatsApp group he referred to as ‘Foolishness and Lies Every Day.’
“Please, if you have the link to the WhatsApp group called ‘Foolishness and Lies Every Day,’ send it to my inbox. I have noticed its creatives are released earlier than my notifications. I don’t want to miss the daily agenda. I have been told gossip doesn’t tolerate laziness,” he added.
Itumbi concluded the post by saying, “I don’t have much more to say for now.”
The claims, which circulated online on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, triggered speculation among political observers over possible changes within the Kenya Kwanza administration.
The reports were first shared by DCP TV, which claimed that Gachuri had been removed from a State House WhatsApp group at around 4:20 a.m.
The platform described the move as a significant political development and questioned Itumbi’s silence amid the discussion.

Reports on DP Kindiki Stripped off Some Roles
The claims involving Gachuri emerged just days after Deputy President Kindiki dismissed reports alleging a fallout between him and President William Ruto.
In a brief statement shared on his official X account on Monday, July 27, Kindiki termed the reports as fake but did not offer any further comment.
The reports followed a publication by The Standard, which claimed that President Ruto, through Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Felix Koskei, had reassigned the government’s intergovernmental coordination function from the Office of the Deputy President to Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.
According to the publication, the changes would make Mudavadi the principal link between the national government and county governments on intergovernmental affairs, a role previously associated with the Deputy President’s office.

Kindiki, however, dismissed the reports as fake without giving further details.
The latest claims involving Gachuri have fuelled fresh speculation on social media over alleged changes within government.
However, neither Gachuri nor State House has issued any statement confirming that he was removed from a State House WhatsApp group.
