Former Standard Group Journalist Jacob Ng’etich has been appointed to replace Salim Swaleh as the Director of communications in the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary.
Ng’etich already reported to his new workstation two weeks into August 2024, after the termination of Swaleh’s contract.
The journalist, who keeps a low profile, revealed to his previous employer, Standard Group, that he had accepted the appointment.
Also, he has already been executing his duties under the position including sharing press releases on behalf of his boss Musalia Mudavadi.
Ng’etich has stepped into the role after Salim Swaleh who was arrested on June 22,2024, for alleged Ksh5.8 million fraud case.

Career Background of Jacob Ng’etich
With 19 years of experience in news reporting and political analysis, Ng’etich will oversee communications for Mudavadi’s executive office and his role as Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs.
His responsibilities will include managing media relations, preparing communication materials and maintaining brand integrity across all platforms.
Before his appointment, Ng’etich was a senior political reporter at Standard group for 11 years. Prior, he was a journalist at Nation Media Group.
He joined NMG in December 2009 as a writer where he worked until August 2012.
In the same year, he joined Standard Group rising through the ranks, to a senior writer and reporter up until his appointment to the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary in August 2024.
Moreover, aside from his journalistic work, Ng’etich is a father, a farmer and an environment Conservation Enthusiast.

Swaleh Begs Mudavadi for Help After Arrest
On Monday, August 26, Swaleh, who was an anchor at NTV before joining Mudavadi’s team, begged for his mercy, saying that his life has taken a toll for the worst after he was arrested over fraud.
Also, he admitted to often considering taking his own life, because of the difficult situation he has found himself in.
At the same time, Swaleh revealed that he stopped receiving his salary abruptly and found it difficult to pay lawyers and keep up with the extortion from police officers.
“The salary stopped abruptly, and I have loans. Please find it in your heart first to forgive us, and second, please help end this.” he said in tears
In April 2024, another media personality Walter Onchonga Mong’are popularly known as Nyambane, was fired from the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary (PCS) and the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs.
He served as the Director of Programs (Advocacy and Outreach) under the ministry.
