Lang’ata Member of Parliament (MP) Phelix Odiwuor alias Jalang’o, has rejected the Finance Bill 2024.
Speaking in parliament, Jalang’o said that proposals in the bill will affect the people adding that he had already let President William Ruto know of his stand on the Bill.
“I reject the Finance Bill 2024, immediately it touched around the common mwanainchi, I looked back, and had to make this choice that I have made today, most of you know that I am a friend to the President. I spoke to him, and he knows very well that this is my stand,” he said.
At the same time, Nairobi Women representative Esther Passaris rose to reject the bill, saying that she did not stand for it despite the changes made by the finance Committee.
“Much as I commend the public participation and amendments that were done on the Finance Bill, I reject it,” she said.

Other members who have rejected the bill include Kilifi south MP Ken Chonga, Kajiado East MP MaiMai.
On the other hand, Kuresoi MP Mutai Kiprono rose to support the Finance Bill. Others who supported the bill included Turbo MP Janet Sitienei, Nguchine MP Moses Kirima among others.
Hon. Samuel Chepkonga, Benjamin Kipkirui, and Marianne Kitany have voted yes, while Samuel Atandi and John Walter Owino have voted No.
Other Votes on the Finance Bill 2024
MP Florence Jematia, Joshua Kandie, Kipkoros Makilap , Charles Kamuren, Koech Nelson, Alpha Miruka and Linet Chepkorir have voted in support of the bill.
Richard Cheruiyot, Yegon Richard, Gideon Ochanda and Catherine Wambilianga, Komingoi Kibet, Rindikiri Mugambi, Kirima Nguchine, Victor Koech have also voted for the bill.
Barongo Nolphason, Osero Patrick Kibagendi, Raphael Wanjala, Jack Wamboka, Catherine Omanyo, Tindi Mwale, Oyula Joseph, himbwa Mwinyi and Patrick Simiyu have voted against the bill.
Richard Cheruiyot, Yegon Richard, Gideon Ochanda and atherine Wambilianga voted Yes while their counterparts Osero Patrick Kibagendi, Raphael Wanjala, Jack Wamboka, Catherine Omanyo and Tindi Mwale voted No.
Komingoi Kibet, Rindikiri Mugambi, Kirima Nguchine, Victor Koech voted Yes.

The National Assembly on Thursday voted to approve President William Ruto’s contested Finance Bill 2024 in the Second Reading, despite countrywide protests against the bill.
The vote, taken on Thursday June 20 saw 204 MPs voting in support of the Bill and 115 against the Bill.
The MPs approved the Finance Bill 2024 through a roll call vote, despite some members challenging the voice vote.
