The Anti- Finance Bill protests have shifted from the Nairobi CBD to other parts of the country with the focus now on Mombasa City.
Residents have taken to the streets as a show of their objection to some tax proposals while asking the MPs to reject the bill completely instead of amending certain clauses.
The protestors have taken to the streets despite heavy rainfall in the coastal city to protest the passing of the bill.
10:50am: Mombasa residents brave rains to protest against the Finance Bill as they chant anti-Ruto slogans.
11:00am: Police used tear gas to disperse crowds protesting against Finance Bill 2024; protestors in cat-and-mouse games with the armed officers.
11:02am: Residents engaging in anti-finance protests kneel before police officers, dare them to throw teargas canisters.

12:24pm: Mombasa OCS calls for end Finance Bill demos, cites lack of notice. “There are no demonstrations, as the OCS I don’t have your permit letter. There are no protests, let people go back to their businesses peacefully. Come for a letter the day you want to demonstrate, this one is illegal,” he said.

Anti-Finance Bill Protesters
During the anti-finance bill protests in Nairobi CBD on June 20, two people died after sustaining gun injuries.
The protests have also led to the abduction of several people especially the bloggers supporting the position of the Gen Z on social media.
President William Ruto, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and a host of other politicians have commended the youth for coming out to fight for their rights.
The protesters have pledged to hold protests on Tuesday, June 25, and Thursday, June 27, against the bill.
