Popular businessman Jamal Marlow, also known as Jamal Rohosafi, announced on Sunday evening March 25 that he lost valuable items during the Harambee Stars match against Gabon at Nyayo Stadium.
In a statement, Jamal reported that his bag, which contained several important items, was snatched from him.
“My black bag was taken after the match at Nyayo Stadium. It contained a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, Ksh 256,000 in cash, earbuds, a power bank, and important documents,” he stated.
According to Jamal, the stolen items belonged to his wife, Wangari Thiong’o.
Jamal Announces Stolen Items
He filed a report at Nyayo Police Post under OB number 13/23/03/2025. Jamal also appealed to the person who took the bag to return his phone and documents.
“If you’re the one who took it, please keep the cash if you must, but I’m kindly asking you to return the rest, especially the phone and documents. No questions asked. Just do the right thing,” Jamal pleaded.

Jamal was not the only victim; there were multiple reports of theft and mugging along the roads near Nyayo Stadium after the match.
Journalist Kevin Teya remarked, “There have been many reports of muggings at Nyayo National Stadium. Please be cautious.”
Additionally, it was reported that motorists lost vehicle parts, such as wipers, side mirrors, and radio antennas, as thieves took advantage of the limited police presence.
Football Fans Force Their Way into Nyayo Stadium
Some social media users attributed the muggings to the chaotic situation prior to the match, where a group of fans forced their way into the stadium without purchasing tickets.
“Football fans forced their way into Nyayo Stadium moments before the highly anticipated 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier between Harambee Stars and Gabon. I only hope there won’t be muggings afterward,” said social media user Samson Waweru.
Another unfortunate incident occurred when Mumias East MP Peter Salasya was forcibly removed from the stadium by a group of men.

This incident has been condemned by various political leaders, including Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, who described it as regrettable.
“What happened to Hon. Peter Salasya at Nyayo Stadium today is unfortunate. Political intolerance undermines the very foundation of our democracy, which relies on the ability to engage with differing views,” Musalia condemned.
