The Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) has addressed the trending poster on social media about the planned Nane Nane March.
In a post on X, the University administration clarified that the poster is fake and not from its communication department.
The flagged post has the subject “Notice to All Students: Statement Regarding Upcoming Protests on August 8th, 2024.”
The fake poster claimed that JKUAT administration acknowledged the upcoming youth-led march dubbed “Nane Nane” scheduled for Thursday, 8th August 2024.
According to the poster, the University allowed students to take part in the protests claiming that the administration valued democracy and rights of picketing.
“As an institution that values democratic principles and the right to peaceful assembly, we understand that many of our students may wish to participate in this march. Students are encouraged to exercise their democratic rights responsibly “claimed the poster.
The posters directed students to participate in the protest in an orderly and respectful manner while adhering to the principles of non-violence and public order.
