The Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Kenyan lending firm Momentum Credit, Job Muriuki, has died.
Muriuki passed on April 2, 2026, at the age of 41, while undergoing treatment in Chennai, India.
Tributes from colleagues and industry peers have described him as a visionary leader who played a significant role in Kenya’s financial sector.
Job Muriuki’s Early Life and Education
Job Kariru Muriuki was born on November 7, 1984. He attended Nairobi Academy for his International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) from 1997 to 2001.
He later joined Brighton College in the United Kingdom for his A Levels from 2001 to 2003.

In 2003, Muriuki enrolled at the University of Cambridge, Downing College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) and a Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Business Management, completing in 2007.
In 2012, Muriuki became a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) after completing the CFA program at the CFA Institute.
Job Muriuki married his wife, Rebecca Kariru Muriuki, in 2013. The couple was blessed with three children, including twins.
His academic background combined technical, engineering, and financial skills, equipping him for a career spanning management consulting, investment, and entrepreneurship.
Professional Career at Centum Investment Company
Upon completing his studies, Muriuki began his career in London as a management consultant at Marakon, a boutique strategy consulting firm.
He advised senior executives across multiple industries, including multinational companies such as BP and British Telecom, gaining significant experience in global business strategy and corporate governance.
In 2008, Muriuki returned to Kenya and joined Centum Investment Company as a Principal, overseeing the implementation of strategic initiatives across the firm’s portfolio.
During his tenure, he led the consolidation of Centum’s Coca-Cola bottling interests into Almasi Beverages. He was pivotal in the acquisition of Platinum Credit and K-Rep Bank, now known as Sidian Bank, following its rebranding.
Beyond financial services, Muriuki contributed to Centum’s expansion into the energy sector. He played a major role in developing a pipeline of approximately 1,190 MW of power projects, including Amu Power and Akiira Geothermal.

In 2017, Muriuki founded Momentum Credit, a lending firm focused on providing tailored financial solutions to individuals and small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Under his leadership, the company grew rapidly, offering innovative financing products to sectors often underserved by traditional banks.

As his first boss and mentor, I had the opportunity to guide him in his early career and witness his growth into an exceptional leader, highly intelligent, deeply committed, and a man of great integrity.
