Nation Media Group’s Editor-in-Chief, Joe Ageyo, on Wednesday, November 27, was appointed as a member of the WANIFRA board of the World Editors Forum (WEF).
In a statement, the veteran journalist expressed his delight at receiving this recognition.
“I’m deeply honored to join this remarkable team of thought leaders in the journalism field at a crucial time filled with both opportunities and challenges for our profession. I look forward to engaging in meaningful interactions as we work together to reassert the importance of journalism in a world where truth is increasingly scarce,” the statement read.
Following the announcement, the news was positively received by his colleagues in the media industry.
Joe Ageyo joins the World Editors Forum Board
NTV Kiswahili News anchor Lofty Matambo congratulated Joe Ageyo stating, “Congratulations, Mr. Joe Ageyo! Can your boss even?”
Nation Media Group (NMG) also offered a congratulatory note stating; “Congratulations to NMG Editor-in-Chief Joe Ageyo! He joins the World Editors Forum Board, which serves as an advisory board to WAN-IFRA’s Supervisory Board, the leading global community of editors.”

About World Editors Forum (WEF)
The Forum, a community of professional editors under the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA), will see Ageyo working alongside a diverse group of world-class editors.
This advisory board consists of 26 members dedicated to promoting press freedom, improving the quality of journalism, and facilitating transformation in newsrooms worldwide.
Joe’s distinguished journalism career
Ageyo has built a distinguished career in journalism, taking on various roles throughout his professional journey.
He is currently the Editor-in-Chief at NMG, a position he has held since September 5, 2023.
In this role, he leads NMG’s initiative to create audience-centered content across print, digital, and electronic platforms.
Before rejoining NMG, the veteran journalist served as Editorial Director at Royal Media Services from April 2018 to March 2022.

Prior to that, he worked at Standard Media Group as the Managing Editor at KTN News from November 2012 to April 2018.
He also held the position of Head of News Production at Nation Media Group from February 2005 to November 2012, where he worked as a reporter and a news anchor during that time.
Additionally, Ageyo served as Deputy News Editor at KTN from May 2000 to January 2005, during which he also worked as a reporter.
