Former presidential running mate candidate Justina Wamae has broken her silence on the 2027 general elections.
Speaking to The Kenya Times on July 21, Wamae left the door open on a potential presidential bid, while making it clear that her focus lies in reshaping how Kenyans engage with politics.
“Let me just tell Kenyans I will be around. My vision is to first change the mindset of Kenyans and how they see politics,” Wamae stated.
“In terms of influencing and shaping policies and legislations that make life easier for Kenyans.”
While she didn’t directly declare her candidacy, she acknowledged the curiosity around her 2027 plans, offering a strategic response.
“So where do I want to go? I know that is the question. I’m still looking out for options and when the time comes, I’ll tell Kenyans.”

On the Economy and Political Plans
Wamae also addressed the economic frustrations many Kenyans are facing, calling for leadership that offers real solutions instead of constant political bickering.
“They need to focus on growing the economy. That is the most important thing because Kenyans are saying, we are going to school, we are educated, we don’t have jobs.
She stated that it’s about increasing the participation rate of Kenyans, which calls for economic solutions.
She further criticized both sides of the political divide for prioritizing rivalry over results.
“When you look at them, they are just opposing the government. They are not giving solutions,” she stated.
“I am not supporting the government. I am not supporting the opposition. I am in the alternative.”
Direct Message to Gen Z
Wamae had a message for Kenya’s youth, especially Gen Z, who have recently become more vocal in protests and political conversations.
“Gen Z, stop telling us you’re party-less, you’re leaderless, you’re formless. Can you join a political party? Can you register as voters? Can you wait for 2027?”
