Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has confirmed that the aircraft involved in the Taxiway Echo incident at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) has been safely recovered, with normal airport operations fully restored.
The update follows an earlier incident involving a domestic flight carrying 50 passengers that veered off the taxiway after landing at the airport.
In a statement on December 30, 2025, KAA stated that Taxiway Echo has been reopened after the successful recovery of the aircraft.
The Authority emphasized that airport operations are proceeding without disruption.
“Following the aircraft incident at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) yesterday. The aircraft that veered off Taxiway Echo has been safely recovered. Taxiway Echo has since been reopened, and airport operations remain normal,” read the statement in part.
KAA on Incident Details at JKIA
Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) had earlier issued an official statement confirming an aircraft incident that occurred on December 29, 2025, at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), involving a domestic flight from Elwak airstrip in Mandera.
The Authority stated that the incident happened after the aircraft landed at JKIA and veered off Taxiway Echo, but emphasized that all passengers and crew were safe.

“Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) wishes to inform the public of an aircraft incident that occurred this afternoon at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA),” read the statement in part.
In the statement released on the same day by Dr. M. M. Gedi, Ag. Managing Director and CEO of Kenya Airports Authority, KAA clarified the aircraft had 50 passengers on board and that there were no reported injuries.
The Authority moved to reassure the public that safety protocols were followed and emergency teams responded immediately in line with established procedures.
According to the statement, the aircraft veered off Taxiway Echo safely after landing,with KAA confirming that all passengers and crew were safely accounted for.

The Authority did not report any casualties or damage affecting other airport operations.
KAA noted that the incident occurred in the afternoon and involved a domestic flight operating from Elwak airstrip in Mandera to Nairobi.
