Wiper Patriotic Front Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has hit back at the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) after the party linked him to claims surrounding former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s health, terming the move “malicious, reckless, and utterly false.”

In a hard-hitting statement released on Sunday, October 5, 2025, and signed by Wiper Secretary General Shakila Aballa, the party accused ODM of engaging in “political theatre” and attempting to drag Kalonzo into its “internal confusion.”

Wiper described ODM’s response to what it called “imagined misinformation” about Raila’s health as an act of desperation.

“The latest outburst by the ODM Party through its surrogates over imagined misinformation on the health of Raila Odinga is nothing short of political theatre — an act of desperation from a once-respected movement that has lost both its moral compass and political relevance,” the statement read.

“Let it be stated clearly: Kalonzo Musyoka harbours no ill will whatsoever toward Mr. Odinga. The two leaders share a long, public history of cooperation and mutual respect. Any suggestion that Kalonzo Musyoka wishes harm upon Raila is malicious, reckless, and utterly false.”

The party also accused ODM of hypocrisy, saying it was “a mockery of the nation’s intelligence” for the former opposition giant to align itself with the Kenya Kwanza administration — the same regime it claimed was responsible for the killing of young protesters during the Gen Z demonstrations.

It claimed that ODM’s attempt to drag Kalonzo into its internal confusion is a weak distraction from the cracks splitting the so-called Broad-Based Government they now defend so blindly.

“It is, frankly, a mockery of the nation’s intelligence that ODM, once a beacon of reform, now finds comfort in the pits of hell with a regime that butchered our young people and continues to abduct online critics in the dead of night,” Wiper said.

Addressing Raila’s failed bid for the African Union Commission (AUC) chairmanship, Wiper dismissed ODM’s insinuations that Kalonzo had anything to do with it.

The statement blamed Raila’s loss on “diplomatic blunders” and “mishandling” by the very government ODM now supports.

“His defeat was not a shock, but rather a consistent trend that mirrors the political miscalculations of those now attempting to rewrite history,” the party added.

Kalonzo Fires Back at ODM, Accuses Party of Betraying Kenyans

Wiper accused ODM of betraying Kenyans by joining hands with President William Ruto’s government, which it said was responsible for “bloodshed, economic ruin, and repression.”

“ODM’s latest statement is not about Raila’s health. It is about their guilt, their fear, and their desperate attempt to justify a political marriage stinking of despotism,” the statement concluded.

“No one — and absolutely no one — will drag H.E. Kalonzo Musyoka into their self-inflicted political decay.”

This comes after an earlier statement issued on October 5 by Raila’s spokesperson, Dennis Onyango, who alleged that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, alongside Kalonzo and AAP leader Eugene Wamalwa, are behind a “familiar campaign of misinformation” intended to tarnish Raila’s image and destabilize his political standing.

“The misinformation is broadcast by the same team that went on a frenzy against Hon. Raila’s bid for the chairmanship of the African Union Commission earlier this year,” Onyango said, accusing sections of the media of “happily picking feeds from bloggers and broadcasting them as some kind of investigative breaking news.”
