The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) on August 22 announced a temporary closure of Bomas – Kiserian (B19) Road to allow for construction works that will last nearly two months.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) would like to inform the public of a temporary traffic disruption due to the closure of the Bomas – Kiserian (B19) Road,” read part of the KeNHA notice.
According to a public notice issued on 19th August 2025, the affected section runs from just after Brookhouse/Galleria (Km 0+500) to just after the Catholic University of Eastern Africa junction (Km 1+000).
The closure will take effect from Thursday, 28th August 2025, and remain in place until Monday, 20th October 2025.
KeNHA explained that the disruption is necessary to facilitate the construction of two box culverts along the road.
“This is due to scheduled roadworks for the construction of the 2No. Box Culverts on the road section,” KeNHA confirmed.
Alternative routes suggested
The authority advised motorists to use designated alternative routes during the period of the closure.
The recommended diversions include:
- Langata Road → Langata South Road → Kiboko Road → Banda Lane → Magadi Road
- Langata Road → Langata South Road → Kiboko Road → Mukoma Road → Magadi Road (near Shell Petrol Station)
KeNHA urged road users to follow the traffic diversion plan and adhere to project road signs.

The committee further directed the contractor to consider restructuring the project by expanding the existing A8 highway.
