The Kenya national men’s football team, Harambee Stars, has dropped three places in the latest FIFA world ranking.
As of April 3, 2025, Kenya dropped three spots to sit at position 113, down from position 108, recorded in the months of November and December 2024.
Kenya had, in April 2024, moved four places up to sit at position 107, up from its former position of 111 in February that year.
In the Confederation of African Football (CAF) region, Kenya has now been ranked 27th behind East African rivals Uganda (89) and Tanzania (107).
The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) hosts Morocco are top in Africa (12) followed by Senegal (19), Egypt (32), Algeria (36), Ivory Coast (41), Nigeria (43), Tunisia (49), Cameroon (50), Mali (53), and South Africa (56) closing at top ten.

FIFA world rankings
The latest FIFA rankings also saw Argentina strengthen their grip on the top spot, following their qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, featuring a dominant 4-1 win over rivals Brazil.
Spain has moved up to second place, overtaking France at third, while England and Brazil have maintained the fourth and fifth positions, respectively.
Portugal dropped below the Netherlands to sit in position 7. Meanwhile, Belgium, Italy and Germany make up the remaining top ten FIFA world rankings.
In North America, Mexico’s Nations League triumph lifted them to 17th place, just behind the USA (16), while Canada climbed to their highest-ever position at 30th.
Harambee Stars draw and lose in Benni McCarthy’s first two games
The drop of three places in the rankings by Harambee Stars is accounted for by Kenya’s failure to win a match in last month’s round of 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifying matches, where the country drew and lost their two games.

In what was South African coach Benni McCarthy’s first match in charge of the team, Harambee Stars produced a heroic comeback to force a draw 3-3 with lowly-ranked Gambia (126).
This was before the team lost 2-1 at home to Gabon, which has been ranked at position 79 overall, at the Nyayo National Stadium.
The lowest point for Kenya in FIFA rankings came in July 2007 when they were ranked 137th in the world.
However, Harambee Stars’ fortunes turned around in December 2008 when they achieved their highest-ever ranking of 68th in the world.
