The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has released a seven-day weather outlook for the period between January 10 and January 14, 2025. Kenya Met published the outlook a day after heavy rainfall was witnessed in some parts of the country on Thursday January 9, 2025.
According to the weatherman, mainly sunny and dry weather will prevail across most parts of the country.
However, occasional rainfall is expected in a few areas, including the Highlands (West & East of the Rift Valley), Lake Victoria Basin, Central and South Rift Valley, and the South Coast.
The Northeastern, Northwestern, parts of the Highlands west of the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, southeastern lowlands and Coast will experience average daytime (maximum) temperatures of about 32°C or more.
Additionally, Kenya Met highlighted that strong southeasterly winds exceeding 25 knots (12.5 m/s) are expected in parts of Turkana and Marsabit counties.
Temperatures will fall below 10°C at night in some parts of the Highlands east of the Rift Valley, the Central and South Rift Valley, and the southeastern lowlands.
Kenya Met highlights weather update for Lake Victoria Basin and Parts of Rift Valley
The Highlands West of the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, and Rift Valley, and parts of the Highlands East of the Rift Valley will mostly experience sunny intervals in the mornings, though rains willbe experienced over few areas around Lake Victoria on Friday Morning.
Occasional afternoon showers and thunderstorms are expected in a few places.
Nights will be partly cloudy, with occasional showers in a few areas of Narok and the Lake Victoria Basin.
Counties in these regions include Kakamega, Nandi, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Busia, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori and Narok.

Sunny intervals are expected during the day in the North Rift Valley and parts of the Highlands west of the Rift Valley, while nights are likely to be partly cloudy.
These include Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Baringo and West-Pokot Counties.
Turkana and Samburu counties will experience sunny conditions during the day, with nights likely to be partly cloudy.
Nairobi County and its Environs
According to Kenya Met, the Highlands east of the Rift Valley which consists of Nairobi County and its environs will mostly have morning sunny intervals during this period.
Occasional afternoon showers are expected in a few places except on Monday January 13 where a few areas will experience sunny intervals.
Nights will also experience showers over a few places though a few areas will be partly cloudy on January 13.
Other counties in this region besides Nairobi include Nyandarua, Nyeri, Laikipia, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu and Tharaka-Nithi.
North-Eastern & South-Eastern
In North-eastern Kenya (Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties), sunny intervals are expected during the day, while nights are likely to be partly cloudy.
The South-eastern lowlands will experience mainly sunny intervals during the day except Saturday January 11 where few areas will experience cloudy with light rains breaking into sunny intervals.

However, a few areas may have occasional light showers in the afternoons.
The region covers the following counties: Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, and Taita-Taveta counties, as well as the inland parts of Tana River County.
Coast
The Coast will experience mainly sunny intervals both during the day and in the afternoon.
Areas within this region include Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale Counties as well as the coastal parts of Tana River County.
