The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has released a five-day weather forecast for the period starting December 10 to December 15. Kenya Met published the weather outlook amid a decrease in the rain recorded in various parts of the country.
According to the forecast, Kenyans in some parts of the country should continue preparing for rainfall and a continuation of the cold season during this period despite dry conditions recorded in the past weeks.
Kenya Met stated that rainfall is expected to continue in some regions including parts of the Lake Victoria Basin, South Rift Valley, the Central Highlands, South-eastern lowlands and the Coast.
At the same time, chilly nights with temperatures below 10°C are expected in parts of the Central Highlands and Central Rift Valley.
Detailed Kenya Met weather forecast
The Highlands East of the Rift Valley, which include Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka and Nairobi counties, will experience partly cloudy nights alternating with showers, with temperatures dropping below 7°C.

Daytime temperatures will range between 27°C and 28°C.
On the other hand, the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin and the Rift Valley will experience sunny intervals in the mornings, alternating between rains over few places.
Afternoon and night showers and thunderstorms are expected over several places in these regions during the first half of the forecast period, reducing to few places thereafter.
Counties in these regions are Kisii, Nyamira, Nandi, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Kisumu, and Homabay.
Others are Busia, Migori, Narok, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet and West-Pokot Counties.
Kenya Met, at the same time, highlighted that other areas across the country are likely to remain sunny and dry during this period.

Daytime temperatures of above 30°C are expected in the Coast, North-eastern, and North-western Kenya.
North-western Kenya which comprises Turkana and Samburu Counties will experience sunny conditions throughout the day and partly cloudy conditions in the night.
Parts of Kenya to Remain Dry
The North-eastern region, which includes Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties, will also remain dry overall experiencing sunny days and partly cloudy nights.

Night temperatures in this region will remain constant at 18°C, while daytime temperatures will exceed 37°C.
South-eastern lowlands which include Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado and Taita Taveta Counties as well as inland parts of Tana River County will experience morning and afternoon showers over few places during the first half of the forecast.
These counties will have minimum temperatures ranging between 12°C and 14°C, while maximum temperatures will range between 31°C and 32°C.
Partly cloudy conditions and showers are expected to occur over few places during the period.
