Designed to simplify urban travel, these buses, the Nairobi Commuter Rail (NCR) Passenger Service are meant to provide a budget-friendly option for daily commuters.
Whether you are heading to work, attending appointments, or travelling to one of the many locations served by the bus, you can rely on the Kenya Railways’ efficient services.
The following schedules highlight the PickNDrop bus services, including stops at major destinations, and the NCR Bus schedule.
All services are available at an affordable fare of Ksh50, with tickets available for purchase onboard.

NCR Bus Yaya Centre Route
For those commuting between Nairobi Central Station (NCS) and Yaya Centre, the bus operates in both the morning and afternoon.
In the morning, the bus departs from NCS at 07:55 HRS and reaches Yaya Centre by 08:30 HRS. After a brief stop, it departs Yaya Centre at 08:33 HRS, returning to NCS by 09:05 HRS.
In the afternoon, the bus leaves NCS at 16:00 HRS, arriving at Yaya Centre by 16:30 HRS.
It then departs Yaya Centre at 16:35 HRS, reaching NCS by 17:15 HRS.
The fare for each trip is Ksh 50.
Nairobi to JKIA and Embakasi Village Railway Station
The PickNDrop bus service provides frequent, reliable transportation between Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and Embakasi Village Railway Station (EKV), with key stops at the Cargo Area and Central Square.
Morning Departures: The first departure from JKIA is at 06:20 HRS, with an arrival at EKV by 06:15 HRS. The next departure is at 06:40 HRS, reaching EKV at 06:55 HRS.
Later, a third departure occurs at 07:25 HRS, with an arrival at EKV by 07:50 HRS.
Mid-Morning – Afternoon Departures: At 09:50 HRS, the bus leaves JKIA and arrives at EKV by 10:05 HRS. A later departure at 11:45 HRS reaches EKV by 12:00 HRS. A third option leaves JKIA at 11:50 HRS, arriving at EKV by 12:05 HRS.
Afternoon – Evening Departures: The 15:55 HRS departure from JKIA arrives at EKV by 16:10 HRS. At 16:00 HRS, the bus reaches EKV by 16:50 HRS. A 16:35 HRS departure reaches EKV by 17:05 HRS.
Evening Departures: The first evening bus leaves JKIA at 17:10 HRS, arriving at EKV by 17:40 HRS. Another bus leaves at 17:45 HRS and arrives at EKV by 18:15 HRS.
A third evening departure occurs at 18:50 HRS, with an arrival at EKV by 19:05 HRS.
Late Evening Departures: The 19:20 HRS bus leaves JKIA, arriving at EKV by 19:55 HRS.
A final departure at 20:35 HRS reaches EKV by 20:50 HRS.

NCR Bus – Upper Hill Route
For passengers travelling to Upper Hill, the NCR Bus service operates several departures throughout the day between Nairobi Central Station (NCS) and Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).
Morning Departures: The bus departs from NCS at 07:45 HRS and arrives at KNH by 08:06 HRS. The return trip from KNH to NCS departs at 09:00 HRS and arrives at 09:12 HRS.
Mid-Morning Departures: A mid-morning departure from NCS occurs at 08:35 HRS, arriving at KNH by 08:59 HRS. The return bus leaves KNH at 09:07 HRS, arriving back at NCS by 09:20 HRS.
Afternoon Departures: In the afternoon, the bus leaves NCS at 16:10 HRS, arriving at KNH by 16:35 HRS. The return trip departs from KNH at 16:36 HRS and reaches NCS by 17:00 HRS.
Westlands Schedule
The Westlands route provides convenient transport for commuters travelling from Nairobi Central Station to Westlands, operating between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
The buses make stops at key locations including Jeevanjee, Museum Hill, CFC Stanbic, Chiromo, Westlands Bus Terminus (WBT), Brookside, Safaricom, ABSA, ABC Place, and James Gichuru.
