In a special recognition of dedication and bravery, the National Police Service (NPS) has promoted Corporal Winfred Gacheri Kinoti from the rank of Constable.
Corporal Kinoti has served in the police service for 18 years and has spent the past three years as the only female officer stationed in Mukogodo Forest, a challenging area known for security threats.
Her promotion was described as a testament to her resilience, commitment, and role in protecting communities in high-risk regions.
The ceremony, presided over by Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja and Cabinet Secretary for Interior Kipchumba Murkomen, took place during a security and citizen service assessment in Nanyuki, Laikipia County.
Murkomen lauded Corporal Kinoti, stressing the importance of encouraging and motivating officers who serve under demanding conditions.
She was honoured as an example of courage and dedication to others in the force.
Corporal Winfred Gacheri Kinoti Promoted from Constable in Special Recognition
Winfred has moved up from the lowest rank in the National Police Service. Constables form the backbone of the force, and every police officer begins their career at this rank.
At her new level as corporal, she is expected to have gained considerable experience and begin taking on supervisory responsibilities, often overseeing Constables in their duties.

Operation in Mukogodo Forest
In February, the government launched a special intelligence-led, multi-agency security operation to restore peace and stability in Mukogodo Forest to counter the resurgence of isolated banditry incidents along the Laikipia–Isiolo border.
The operation will involve multiple security agencies working jointly and will be driven by actionable intelligence aimed at dismantling criminal networks operating in the area.
The Cabinet Secretary added that the government will fast-track the rehabilitation of key security roads and expand mobile network coverage to open up the remote area and improve response times by security agencies.
He also noted that the capacity of National Police Reservists (NPRs) will be enhanced to complement the work of regular security forces.
