A Mombasa couple was arrested for allegedly using a dating site to exploit their three children in a sex trafficking scheme.
According to a statement by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the lady, 41, is accused of using “AfroIntroductions” to share explicit content of her children, aged 13, 7, and 4, and offering them for money.
The couple’s two daughters and one son were among the victims.
Investigations further revealed that her husband, 52, allegedly abused their 13-year-old daughter since she was 11.
Detectives from the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Protection Unit and DCI Changamwe tracked the couple using forensic evidence.
Both were charged in the Mombasa Law Courts. The husband was granted a 1 million Kenyan shilling ($7,700) bond, while the woman remains in Shazu Prison awaiting a bond decision on July 15, 2025.

The arrests showed Kenya’s ongoing battle against child sexual exploitation, particularly in coastal regions like Mombasa, where poverty and online platforms have fueled such crimes.

According to a 2021 International Justice Mission report, there are up to 20,000 child sex trafficking victims nationwide.
On 8 March, a Kisumu woman was arrested for alleged online child sex exploitation after a video of her supposedly getting intimate with her 14-year-old son.
According to the police, the woman was suspected of involving her Grade Eight son in incestuous acts but had fled a trap set by her neighbours, who raised concern after watching the video online.
Kisumu Incident
The neighbours had alleged that the woman was selling the videos to child pornography sites.
Her cover was reportedly blown when she ‘mistakenly’ sent a video of herself and the boy in the act.
The clip has since leaked online, attracting condemnation from many Kisumu residents.

Report on Child Sexual Exploitation in Kenya
The report released by ChildFund International Africa Region and Africa Child Policy Forum (ACPF) reveals that Kenya is a hotspot for sexual abuse of children aged between 12 and 17 years.
According to the report, up to 13 percent of 12 to 17-year-olds surveyed in Kenya were threatened or blackmailed to engage in sexual activities online, showing how deep the vice is taking root with increased access to technology tools and the internet.
The report surveyed other African countries where around a fifth of children under 17 have received unsolicited online requests to talk about sex or sexual acts.
