Kenyan musician Wambui Ndirangu, popularly known as Vivian, has disclosed the personal struggles she has faced within her family after divorce.
In a heartfelt statement on Wednesday, November 13, Vivian opened up about the emotional toll she has experienced and revealed how her family members have treated her during some of her most difficult times.
The singer who has never shied away from speaking her mind, shared painful experiences of being ostracized and misunderstood by those closest to her.
Reflecting on her divorce, she revealed that the lack of support from her own family members deeply affected her.
“My family is the pits. When I went through the divorce, my sister called me mentally sick, my aunt came to harass me in my own house,” she said.
At the same time, Vivian recounted her mother’s dismissive response when she tried to return home after living abroad.

She further explained that these series of events made her realize that the emotional trauma she had been carrying began long before her marriage breakdown.

Vivian’s pain is compounded by her belief that her family has been plagued by what she describes as “serious curses” in their bloodline, and she worries that a newer generation of young men is being raised within the same toxic environment.
“When I attempted to come back home from the West, my mum asked, ‘Why should I?’ she questioned.
“I realized the trauma I have started from my upbringing. My bloodline has some serious curses and now a newer generation of young men is coming up in this same family line.”
The musician didn’t hold back, speaking candidly about her strained relationship with the women in her family, particularly those on her mother’s side.
Vivian who also doubles up as an author described them as emotionally distant and unsupportive, with her sister at the forefront of this coldness.
But despite the painful past, the singer declared that she would no longer allow her family’s treatment to silence her.
“I want them to know they can never silence or break me. I will speak up for myself and my children,” Vivian stated.
She went ahead to boldly affirm, “Suppression, fear, harassment, self-centeredness ends here and now. Siwaogopi.”

The author had earlier in August sparked a wave of attention when she candidly spoke her mind, sharing revelations that stirred the waters like never before.
With conviction, she questioned the roots of Christianity, describing it not as a path to enlightenment, but as a chain of control and fear.
In a TikTok video posted on August 21, Vivian explained why she no longer believes in Christianity.
“Can I tell you why I don’t believe in Christianity? I don’t think I had a choice. The foundation of Christianity is control and fear. It is living your whole life experience out of a book,” Vivian said.
She went on to criticize how Christianity dictates every aspect of a person’s life, using the Bible as a tool to justify actions that can be harmful to others.
