Nominated Senator Hezena Lemaletian, popularly known as the ‘Queen of the North’ has received the African Leadership Hall of Fame Award and the Exceptional Young African Leaders Award.
The Nominated Senator made the announcement expressing her gratitude for the recognition and dedicated the awards to Kenyan youths.
“I am humbled to be honored with the African Leadership Hall of Fame Award and the Exceptional Young African Leaders Award in Accra Ghana.
I dedicate this award to every patriotic Kenyan Youth and every Pan-African hearted and minded African Youth,” her statement read.
The two-day African Business Summit in Accra Ghana that was organized by The New Africa saw the induction of outstanding women in Africa and iconic African leaders in their respective fields as well as young exceptional Africans into the Leadership Hall of Fame.
About Hezena Lemeletian
Hezena Lemaletian is a nominated Senator and hails from the nomadic community of Samburu.
In her early education, Lemaletian attended Milimani School in Maralal and joined St. Theresa Girls High School.
Hezena Lemaletian graduated from the University of Nairobi with a bachelor’s degree in commerce (finance).
Moreover, she is the reigning Miss Commonwealth Kenya, Charity Ambassador for Commonwealth, and a Global Peace Ambassador.

Further, she is passionate about the rights of minority groups having grown up Samburu.
She is the founder of the Pastoralists Sports Initiative which aims at empowering youth economically through culture and sports.
The initiative also aims at bringing peace and unity to Samburu County and taming cattle rustling.
In politics, The Queen of the North is affiliated to the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and the Azimio One Kenya Alliance.

Further, she uses her position and influence to talk about the challenges facing residents of Samburu and the youth in general.
The Queen of the North also advocates for development projects for her pastoralist community.
