TikToker Nasra on Her Diagnosis and Life in Saudi Arabia
Nasra narrated that she collapsed one day while at work in Saudi Arabia and vomited blood. After going for a checkup at a nearby clinic, she was immediately transferred to a specialist hospital.
Although she was scared that she would be arrested or deported, she was determined to bring to an end her misery and hoped that she would know the cause of her predicaments.
“I was okay until one day I had a terrible headache. Blood started flowing out of my ears and because it was not a first occurrence, I just wiped it off.”
“However, after a while, blood started flowing out of my mouth. I covered my mouth but immediately after, blood flowed out of my nose and eyes as well. I was shocked because that was something that had never happened to me,” she said.
She said that the doctors did a biopsy that confirmed that she indeed had blood cancer. At the time, she feared that being diagnosed with cancer was equivalent to a death sentence.
“The news broke my heart because when you hear the word cancer, you know that your end is near.”
“I decided not to share the news with my family and friends because the doctors told me that I had five years to live. I thought I would just surprise them with my death instead of putting them through the pain,” she said.

Nasra Comes Back to Kenya and Relationships After Diagnosis
After her diagnosis, Nasra spent all her savings on medical bills and medication. Before long, she was broke and alone in Saudi Arabia.
She therefore decided to come back to Kenya, hoping that she would get a solution to her predicaments.
“My boss in Saudi Arabia allowed me to come back home. My mom knew that I was sick through social media because I asked for help on TikTok.”
“I had spent all my money on medical bills and needed to raise money for my flight back home. The TikTok community has helped me in ways that I cannot explain,” explained Nasra, noting that well-wishers raised enough funds to bring her back home.
At the same time, she revealed that it had not been easy to get treatment because her friends and family did not stand by her side.
Nasra said that she did not want many people by her side because there are times when her body would release a foul smell and it lowered her self-esteem.
“There are friends who I did not imagine would leave my side, but they left. That was such a huge punishment and I do not know how to even deal with that. I decided to let go of them and believe that it was all for good,” added the cancer survivor.
On the response she has received after posting videos of herself bleeding, she said that some people had accepted and helped her while others criticized and condemned her.
“It breaks my heart that people would criticize me online because I was not chasing clout by posting my condition online.”
“I was seeking help to better understand my situation. My TikTok community is like my family, and it hurt that some criticized me when I posted the videos of me bleeding,” added Nasra.
