President William Ruto and first lady Rachel Ruto on Friday December 22 put a smile on the faces of Sugoi residents in Uasin Gishu County with Christmas goodies.
Hundreds of locals gathered at Ruto’s resident in Sugoi, Eldoret Uasin Gishu County.
In the meeting, Governors Johnson Sakaja (Nairobi) and Jonathan Bii (Uasin Gishu) other several MPs and MCAs, joined the president in sharing Christmas gifts with locals.
In his message, President Ruto shared his delight in sharing gifts with the people.
“Spreading joy and festive cheer in Sugoi, Uasin Gishu County! The President and I hosted a heartwarming Christmas gathering to share the festive spirit and gifts with our wonderful Neighbours.”
“May the warmth of the season continue to brighten our communities,” Rachel Ruto stated.
“Wishing the people, a blessed season,” Sakaja, said that Christmas is a time to share and care.
However, the gesture attracted mixed reactions from Kenyans. While some people expressed their disappointments with the president gifting Sugoi residents only, others felt that it was kind to share at this time.
Hussein Mohamed Tells off haters
According to State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed, Ruto has always been a cheerful giver.
“President William Ruto sharing with his neighbors in Sugoi during this festive season. Unbelievable how some (whose sport is to find fault at everything as the President said) would criticize sharing with the people.
If you’re against sharing with your neighbors and humanity, you might want to check if your heart’s still beating.
Being mean is a bad thing, but it’s even worse to campaign against sharing with humanity.

Act of Humanity by Ruto
Bliss Tours and Travel Kenya felt that the president did an amazing job by sharing Christmas gifts with all regardless of their social status.
“Your excellency, a cup of cold water given to a thirsty stranger is a nobler act than giving dozens of parties to friends and associates who can afford to treat themselves and is certainly a credit into your Heavenly account.
Kindness is giving your best to your neighbours regardless of their social status. May our good Lord continue blessing you all round,” Bliss Tours noted.
Also, Kevoh Aspire lauded the head of stated the gesture noting that it was part of humanity.
“Share love, give hope, create peace and Rejoice together, it’s humanity,” he noted.
Similarly, Emmanuel Mutahi praised the president for his dedication in leading the country to higher levels noting the joy the gifts brought to the people.
“Sending immense appreciation to President William Ruto for his outstanding leadership, tireless dedication, and remarkable governance efforts. Under his guidance, our nation is reaching new heights. And let’s not forget the heartwarming Christmas visit to his home in Sugoi, where joy and blessings overflowed, ” he noted.
Subsequently, Susan Ngigi appreciated the move noting that sharing is a form of expressing love.
This is Wrong
For Milton Nyakundi Oriku, the president was not doing justice to the poor by giving them the handouts as they would only make them poorer.
“This is unacceptable from a leader who’s supposed to provide policy directions that secure the people socio-economic welfare as enshrined in the Constitution.
Clearly, you want these folks to remain poor and dependent on your handouts,” he stated.
Another Facebook user by the name Alikiona Alikiona expressed his disappointments noting that the head of state belonged to all not only to Sugoi people.
“You are a leader of the whole country not Sugoi alone. Why don’t you share with all of us!! Sugoi votes alone couldn’t have made you president, put all people on equal measures, we have nothing to rejoice there,” the user noted.
Nonetheless, Evelyn and Brian Ogallo had the same views. They lamented on the president using money from collected taxes to fund for the event.
“Sad, our taxes are used to feed the people of Sugoi,” Brian Ogallo cried.

Better Policies
On her part, Ivy Cheboi asked the president to lower prices for food items for all to allow all to celebrate.
“Wow good work our president but I wish you could do a favor to all Kenyans surely by reducing sugar price even during Christmas holiday only if it’s hard, then we will all feel your concern instead of helping only Sugoi,” she stated.
“We could celebrate Christmas knowing that our president has reduced sugar price to affordable price. Some are not celebrating Christmas well because of the high taxes. Anyway, we respect you our president, let Sugoi celebrate,” she added.
Kevin Cheruiyot Koech felt that the gifts were unnecessary to the residents as they have their own food but would be better in marginalized areas.
“The foodstuffs were not necessarily supposed to be given to Sugoi resident because we believe that God blessed us with land with rains. You should have allocated it to marginal and ASALs area like Northeastern, Coast part of Lamus, Turkana, Pokot and Wajir including Mandera,” he noted.
