Kenyans have reported disruptions on the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) portal, with some users unable to access services since Friday morning.
Several Kenyans raised concerns on social media, reporting that both the NTSA online portal and the *512# service were unavailable.
One user Technomancer also reported being unable to access the annual driving licence application link and asked the authority how they could proceed while the services remained unavailable.
“NTSA portal down the whole morning till now. No information about it, disappointing,” he tweeted.
A user by the name The One also questioned what was happening with the NTSA portal, saying that no services had been available since morning.
“What`s happening with the ntsa portal from morning no services availbale,” he asked.
NTSA Addresses Portal Outage as Kenyans Report Failed Services
When users attempt to access the NTSA website, they are met with a message stating, “This site can’t be reached. The connection was reset.”
Responding to the complaints, NTSA acknowledged the disruption and apologized to affected Kenyans.
“Our team is working to restore services as quickly as possible,” NTSA said.

Services Disrupted
The disruption has affected a range of digital transport and licensing services offered through the NTSA eCitizen portal.
The platform is used for driver licensing services, including applications for provisional driving licences, driving test bookings, smart driving licence applications, renewals and replacement of lost or damaged licences.
Kenyans can also use the portal to add driving classes to existing licences and process the conversion of foreign driving licences.
Vehicle registration services are also available through the platform. These include new vehicle registration, transfer of ownership, generation and verification of electronic logbooks, replacement of logbooks and management of vehicle financing and liens.

The portal also provides services for public service and commercial vehicle operators. These include applications and renewals for PSV badges, PSV licensing and booking of vehicle inspection appointments.
Motor vehicle dealers and other businesses can also use the NTSA services provider portal to apply for dealer licences and commercial number plates. The platform also facilitates licensing and renewal services for second-hand vehicle dealers.
Kenyans can access NTSA services through the NTSA Service Portal or their eCitizen accounts, where they can manage driving licences, vehicle registration and digital logbooks.
