What is Eid Al Adha
The Islamic calendar consists of two Eid festivals, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.
Eid Al Adha, a holy festival celebrated by Muslims, falls more than two months after Eid Al Fitr.
It is an important religious holiday observed by Muslims around the world.
The Arabic word “Adha” means “sacrifice,” which has its root in the word “duha,” meaning “light” or “illumination.”

Muslims observe Eid al-Adha in celebration of Prophet Ibrahim’s (Abraham) disposition to sacrifice his only son in submission to Allah’s will.
However, before Ibrahim sacrificed his son, God provided him with a lamb to sacrifice instead.
Therefore, Eid al-Adha became known as the Festival of Sacrifice.

How to Celebrate
During this day, Muslims offer a lamb as a sacrifice and share it with their family members and those less fortunate.
The holiday normally begins with Muslims going to the Mosque for prayers.
On the ninth day of Dhul Hijjah, a day before Eid Al Adha, Muslims mark one of the holiest days, Arafah Day.
Eid al-Adha also marks the conclusion of Hajj, an annual pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia.
