Former Makueni Governor Professor Kivutha Kibwana has landed a new job after retiring from politics.
Kivutha in a statement on September 26 said that he is delighted to join Daystar University as a lecturer where he will start working at the beginning of January 2025.
“I thank God for the opportunity to serve at the Daystar University Law School as Professor after a previous 25-year stint at UoN. Another New Beginning. I look forward to engagement in the Master of Laws Programme from January 2025. Where the youth are, I pray I always be there,” the statement read.

Kivutha’s political journey
Kibwana who was running on a Muungano party ticket garnered 59,034 votes in the 2022 general elections lost to Dan Maanzo of Wiper Democratic Party.
Before opting to run for the Makueni senatorial race, Kivutha had served as Makueni Governor for two terms where he governed the county for 10 years.
During his first term as a governor, Kibwana faced several political onslaughts including an impeachment attempt by Members of the County Assemblies (MCAs) following a series of disagreements between him, the County Executive and the assembly.
Kivutha at the time was the only governor from a different party in a region perceived to be Kalonzo Musyoka’s political backyard.

Kivutha served as the Wiper Party chairman but later renounced his position in 2019 citing frustrations from the Wiper party leader.
