The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has announced the reopening of its application portal for the second revision of courses for 2023 KCSE students.
This window, according to KUCCPS, will provide a second chance to previous applicants who have not yet secured courses or those who were yet to make their first applications.
In a statement made on April 19, the body noted that the application portal is now accessible to Form Four leavers, allowing them to submit their course preferences for placement in universities, Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions.
“The KUCCPS Portal has re-opened for application to unfilled programmes in universities, TVET institutions and KMTC,” read the statement.
“This targets previous applicants who have not yet secured a course or those yet to submit their course selections.”
Students are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity and revise their course selections before the upcoming deadline on April 25, 2024.
How to participate in the revision process
To participate in the revision process, applicants need to access the application portal through www.student.kuccps.net.
They are required to log in using their KCSE index number, KCSE year, and password.

For first-time users, the initial password is advised to be the Birth Certificate Number or the KCPE number.
They can then add, revise, or reapply by navigating through the Applications tab. Students can review the requirements and search for courses through the institutions tab courses by entering the respective program codes.
Notably, candidates are not required to pay any placement fee during this phase, as they are instructed to submit the mobile money code used in the first revision.
Government Initiatives to support TVET institutions
This second revision phase aligns with the government’s strategic focus on promoting Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) courses to enhance practical training opportunities for students.
President William Ruto has emphasized the importance of TVET courses in equipping the youth to make positive contributions to the country’s economic growth.

The government’s commitment to supporting TVET education is evident in the allocation of Ksh28.3 billion in the current financial year to cater to TVET institutions.
This strategic focus underscores the importance of practical skills development in preparing the youth for diverse career pathways and enhancing the nation’s workforce capacity.
