The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has released results for individuals who applied to the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions.
Applicants can log in to the KUCCPS portal at http://students.kuccps.net to check their placement status free of charge.
Once a person logs in, they need to enter an applicant’s KCSE index number and then the applicant’s KCSE year.
After that, enter the password which can be an applicant’s index number or birth certificate number.
September 2024 applications to KMTC and TVET institutions ended on October 1, 2024. Additionally, applicants were also allowed to transfer between institutions before the said deadline.
KUCCPS is a government agency established under the Universities Act of 2012. It conducts the selection of students for admission to higher learning institutions.
The institution coordinates the placement of government-sponsored students to Kenyan universities and colleges. It also develops and implements career guidance programmes and provides information on available programmes.
Additionally, KUCCPS collects and retains data relating to university and college placement.
KUCCPS and the New University Funding Model
The placement results for KMTC and TVETs come as the new university funding model continues to face challenges.
President William Ruto formed a committee on September 16, 2024, to look into the challenges facing the introduced government sponsorship programme.
Furthermore, the court on October 3, 2024, stopped the implementation of the new funding model pending the hearing and determination of a case the Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC) filed against it.

In the case that included KUCCPS, KHRC argued that the model would lock out thousands of students from accessing essential government funding.
“These students will be unable to afford the new prohibitive school fees and will be denied their constitutional right to education,” the petition reads in part.
However, the case will be heard on December 16, 2024, to highlight submissions by involved parties.
KMTC Courses
KMTC admits students to pursue various medical-related courses at different levels including diplomas and certificates.
The programmes offered include community oral health, health records, health records and information technology, and occupational therapy.

The institution also recently introduced a new course on August 29, 2024: Diploma in Health Insurance Management for those seeking to enter the field of health insurance.
Consequently, the KMTC September 2024 intake included the new course which is offered at the institution’s Nairobi and Nakuru campuses.
Various TVET institutions across the country offer programmes covering various fields to equip participants with different skills.
