Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) opened its first revision window, giving students who were not placed in the first round another opportunity to secure admission into universities, colleges, and TVET institutions.
The reopening comes after the body completed the first phase of placement, during which several candidates were successfully placed, while others not placed.
Applicants who have secured provisional placement in degree courses have been notified via SMS and the KUCCPS portal. Unsuccessful applicants have also been notified to revise their choices.
“KUCCPS application for degree programmes is not successful. Log in to the KUCCPS system immediately and select other courses,” read the notification.
KUCCPS Revision Guide for Students Not Placed
Students who did not secure placement are required to log in to the KUCCPS portal at https://students.kuccps.net/ using their correct KCSE index number, KCSE examination year, and a password.
Currently, only courses with remaining vacancies are displayed on the portal, meaning applicants must select from the updated list.

During the second revision, students are urged to make informed choices so as not to miss the second chance.
KUCCPS advises applicants to carefully match their cluster points with available courses and review previous cut-off trends before submitting selections.
This helps increase the chances of successful placement, especially in programmes that still have limited slots like medicine.
Students are also encouraged to consider alternative pathways beyond degree programmes like Diploma and TVET courses.
Candidates should not rely on competitive courses such as medicine, surgery, pharmacy, architecture, and engineering across all four choices.
KUCCPS explains that these programmes attract the highest number of applicants nationally, yet they have very limited capacity for government-sponsored students.
Applicants must complete and officially submit their revision before the deadline. Failure to do so results in automatic exclusion from the current placement cycle.
Mistakes Students Should Avoid When Revising the courses
- Filling the contact form with incorrect phone numbers
- Leaving courses in the Course Basket without submitting an application
- Applying for one program and leaving other choices blank
- Applying for the same course in all the choices
- Selecting only one course in one institution
- Arranging courses randomly in the application form
- Using the M-Pesa transaction ID to apply instead of an eCitizen account

Meaning of Placement Messages and Student Status
Students who successfully secure placement receive a different confirmation message trough an SMS and KUCCPS portal notification indicating provisional admission into one of their selected degree programmes.
“Dear KAMAAMIA, You have secured a provisional placement in one of the degree courses you selected. Details of the course and university will be communicated in July 2026. Please do not attempt to apply again,” the message read.
This message confirms that the student has already been assigned a course based on merit and available capacity.
KUCCPS also reveals that it will communicate final placement details later in July.
The first revision of the choices targets:
- Form Four leavers who applied for Degree, Diploma, and Certificate programmes between January and May 2026 but were unsuccessful.
- Candidates who attained a mean grade of C+ and above in the 2025 KCSE examination but have not applied for Degree or TVET courses.
- Past KCSE candidates from the year 2000 to 2025 who have not enrolled in any tertiary institution through KUCCPS.
