This shocking move comes just days after their neighbors, Litein Boys High School, went on a destructive rampage that left massive damage in the institution.
Litein Boys Closed Indefinitely
Litein Boys was closed indefinitely after a violent student strike that broke out on Sunday night.
The students were reportedly protesting alleged poor leadership by the school principal, Richard Sang and his deputy.
This was the third time Litein Boys School experienced demonstrations.
It was hit by unrest last term after students staged a strike to protest the distribution of uncooked rice.
Kericho East OCPD Benedict Chirchir said the students had also attempted to break into AIC Litein girls’ school, which is neighboring the institution.
He stated that the decision to close the institution was made after consultations with the administration, security, and education officials to ensure safety.

8 Students Arrested
Kericho Governor Dr. Eric Mutai revealed that eight students were arrested after the night of unrest.
He questioned the logic behind burning properties just because of a football match.
Mutai stated that there were criminal elements involved in the incident at the Litein Boys.
“As we talk, 10 boys have been arrested. What is the relationship between a match and bringing down millions of properties of institutions and riding a cow like a horse? How did they come together? These are criminal elements,” he stated.

He also expressed deep disappointment over the incident, stating that it is a setback.
“I wish to express my disappointment and condemn the actions that took place at Litein Boys last night. As alumni, we have seen Litein Boys rising over the years to be the giant school that it is today. Yesterday’s events were a huge, monumental disappointment,” he said.
