M-Pesa, Airtel Money, and T-Kash 2025 Withdrawal & Transaction Charges

Safaricom, Airtel, and Telkom are the three main telecommunications companies in Kenya offering mobile money transfer services. The companies provide these services through M-Pesa, Airtel Money, and T-Kash, respectively.

According to sector statistics from the Communications Authority (CA), mobile money subscriptions in Kenya reached 42.3 million between October and December 2024, 

Safaricom PLC has a 91.0 percent market share in mobile money services, followed by Airtel Money at 8.9 percent, while T-Kash has less than one percent.

This article compares the rates of the three mobile money services to inform readers of the best service provider to use for particular transactions.

Customers can send any amount up to Ksh250,000 for free from Airtel Money to another Airtel Money-registered user.

The cost of sending money from T-Kash to T-Kash and T-Kash to other networks is the same.

The same applies to transactions from M-Pesa to registered Safaricom users and other networks.

Any amount between Ksh 1 and 100 is sent free of charge across all three networks.

M-Pesa, T-Kash & Airtel Money Send Money Charges

T-Kash and Airtel Money charge Ksh6 for any amount between 101 and 500, while M-Pesa charges Ksh7.

It costs Ksh.13 to send any amount between 501 and 1000 on T-Kash and M-Pesa, while Airtel Money charges Ksh.11.

M-Pesa charges Ksh.23 for sending amounts between 1001 and 1500, while T-Kash and Airtel Money cost Ksh.21 and Ksh.20, respectively.

T-Kash and M-Pesa charge Ksh.33 for amounts between 1501 and 2500 while Airtel charge Ksh.30.

It costs Ksh.47 to send amounts between 2501 and 3500 on T-kash and Ksh. 50 on Airtel Money, and Ksh.53 on M-Pesa.

Airtel Money charges Ksh 50 for amounts between 3501 and 5000, while T-Kash and M-Pesa charge Ksh.57.

The cost of sending amounts between 5001 and 7500 is as follows: M-Pesa (Ksh.78), Airtel Money (Ksh.70) and T-kash (Ksh.67).

Amounts between 7,501 and 10,000 are charged as follows: M-Pesa (Ksh.90), Airtel Money (Ksh.80), and T-Kash (Ksh.88).

Cost of Sending Amounts Above Ksh10K

T-Kash charges Ksh93 for sending amounts between 10,001 and 15,000, while M-Pesa and Airtel Money charge Ksh100 and Ksh90, respectively.

Sending amounts between 15001 and 25000 costs Ksh.95 on Airtel Money while T-kash charges Ksh.93 for amounts 15001 and 20000.

Safaricom charges Ksh.105 for amounts between 15001 and 20000 and Ksh.108 for amounts between 20001 and 250000.

Airtel Money charges Ksh105 for amounts between 35,001 and 250000.

The cost of sending amounts between 20001 and 250000 on T-kash is Ksh103.

Customers Withdrawal Costs for Amounts Above Ksh20K

For amounts between 20001 and 35000, T-kash charges Ksh190 withdrawal while M-Pesa and Airtel Money charges Ksh197 and Ksh160 respectively.

T-kash and M-Pesa charge Ksh273 and Ksh278, respectively for amounts between 35001 and 50000.

Other Airtel Money withdrawal charges are as follows: 35001-40000 (Ksh240), 40001-45000 (Ksh260) and 45001-50000 (Ksh270).

The cost for sending amounts between 50001 and 250000 is as follows: M-Pesa (Ksh309), Airtel Money (Ksh300) and T-Kash (Ksh303).
