Man and Woman Lose Ksh 409K to Good Samaritans Who Offered Them Lift

A man and woman have been left in shock after being robbed over Ksh. 409,000 by people posing as good Samaritans.

The two were headed to Mombasa and were waiting for a bus at the Mlolongo area when a driver of a private vehicle pulled up and offered them a lift. The driver had two other passengers on board.

Owing to the transport challenges associated with the festive season, the man and woman quickly accepted the offer.

Man and Woman blindfolded before being robbed

After boarding the vehicle, the occupants turned out to be robbers. Upon reaching the Simba Cement area of Athi River, they brandished daggers and blindfolded them with ropes, before frisking them for valuables.

The robbers withdrew a total of Ksh.340,000 from the man’s bank account and another KSh20,000 from his Mpesa. They also robbed him of his Samsung Galaxy phone and power bank valued at Ksh75,000.

The DCI has now called upon members of the public to be on the lookout for people who are likely to take advantage of the festive season to rob Kenyans.

“As police heighten patrols and crackdowns on such criminal elements who are taking advantage of the season to reign terror on Kenyan citizens, we call upon members of the public to be security cautious and to report any suspicious persons or activities around their neighborhoods, so that we can all enjoy the true meaning of a happy festivity,” advised the DCI.
