Police in Kitutu Chache North have launched a manhunt for a gang responsible for terrorizing villagers and causing destruction.
So far, four villages including Nyamariba, Emanyi and Sikonge have been affected by the gang who are unknown to the residents.
Peter Bosire a resident of the Nyamariba village narrated how attackers were causing them losses and trauma and called on the authorities to take action.
“They are stealing onions and bananas from the farms, so we are requesting the chief to hold a meeting.”
In another incident the gang raided the farm of a resident of Sikonge village known as Johnstone Monari who is a banana farmer.
Monari recounted how the gang invaded his two-acre farm making away with his bananas.
“The bananas I was planning to go sell in the market were stolen. My wife went to get them from the farm but found nothing. I was shocked as I was planning to use that money on my grandchild’s school needs.”
Not so far from Monari’s farm another villager Alfred Morara a resident of Emanyi was also hit.
Here, the gang drove away their six goats in broad daylight, as the farmhand was away.
“A male farmhand went out to look for feeds. They came and moved the goats and left them while feeding. When he came back, he found out that there were no goats,” Morara said.
So far Morara’s family has lost a total of 14 goats, from the raids. However, what irked Morara the most was the fact that the gang raided and stole from a widow.
“Why do such people steal from widows? They would rather have stolen from me instead! Such people don’t deserve to be alive,” Morara said.
