Bishop Margaret Wanjiru has accused officers from the National Intelligence Service (NIS), the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), and National police of beating her up at her Jesus Is Alive Ministries (JIAM) church located within the Nairobi Central Business District.
According to Wanjiru, the officers showed no mercy to her or any of her staff. She said that they roughed her up, lifted her skirt, groped her and beat her up.
Also, the bishop accused the police officers of beating up and arresting her son who was also caught in the melee.
Further, she noted that some of her staff were still in the hospital with fractures.
“I thought I was dreaming, and it took me a while to realize reality. Even the ones we thought were coming to help us were coming to reinforce their colleagues.
“I realized that my son had been beaten and arrested. My accountant had been beaten; our cameras had been confiscated. My driver was beaten up, my security was beaten, and his hand is broken. We have left him in the hospital,” she said.

Bishop Margaret Wanjiru Narrated NIS Attack that Followed
According to her accounts of events, the DCI and NPS officers arrived at the church first and began the demolitions. The bishop said that she them went out to make some calls to try and get help as the situation was already escalating.
In addition, although she was not able to get any help, she noticed an NIS car approaching the premises and was relieved because she knew they had come to rescue her and her congregation.
However, when she opened the gate for the officers, they immediately began beating her up, joining the rest of the officers who were already at the premises.

“I started making calls to look for help and I happened to go out. On my way back, there was a car that was just coming into the church and those cars we know them very well. They belong to the anti-terrorism. When those men came out, I was very happy because I thought they had come to help us.
Actually, I greeted them. We opened the gate and they entered. Between the NIS, the DCI and the police, they had no shame of beating me up, beating up my staff, to an extent of lifting up my skirt. I could not believe it,” she narrated.

Wanjiru Accuses Government
Wanjiru condemned President William Ruto and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was standing by and watching as land grabbers attempted to take away her land.
Additionally, she accused the two leaders of starting a fight that they could not finish.
“We have never grabbed anyone’s land. We don’t even buy land that doesn’t have a title deed. We are dealing with land grabbers that are being supported by very high powers, that they are untouchable.
“They can tell you that you are fighting government. You have rewarded us with broken legs, broken arms, hurting bodies. You have truly rewarded us with evil.
Earlier, she lamented that the Kenya Kwanza administration had disregarded her even when she supported them through the 22 general elections.
“I wasn’t campaigning to be repaid like this, I wasn’t campaigning for land grabbers to come and start claiming that our church properties are their properties.
“Also, there are many of them, some say they are from the National Intelligence Service (NIS), others claim to be from the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and others from the police. So definitely the government is involved, and it is sad that this is the government that we campaigned for,” she added.
