NARC Kenya party leader Martha Karua has hinted that the Azimio-One Kenya Coalition is grappling and might break up in the near future.
Speaking in an interview on Ghetto Radio, Karua said the Coalition has been unstable since the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) tabled its report.
She affirmed that the NADCO process was a mess and incredible hence the divisions in Azimio.
However, Karua pointed out that the nomination of top ODM officials to President William Ruto’s cabinet could have marked the end of the Coalition.
“Azimio is shaky, and I think after yesterday it is done. I’m saying shaky because since the NADCO report we have been pulling in different directions. The only thing that saves us is that we decided to build our individual parties at the beginning of this year,” Karua said.
Azimio Party’s Meeting
Karua revealed that there will be a meeting between a certain section of the Azimio coalition leaders on Monday, July 29, to make the final decision after Ruto’s appointments.
“From where I sit, it is done. We are meeting with a few Azimio leaders on Monday, but as NARC Kenya, we have discussed a few of these things,” she said.
She explained that the meeting will address issues affecting the country and give their final position. Karua further said the individual parties will also decide their next course of action after the recent occurrences.
“On Monday, we will talk about this issue of the party, and you will hear from us. You will also hear from our individual parties. We must ask ourselves, is there anything left worth fighting for?” Karua said.
She went on to state that all the 26 parties in Azimio, including Roots Party and Usawa Party, who are not signatories, have never met and held discussions about the future of the Coalition.

Besides, Karua said she was not surprised by the nomination of John Mbadi, Opiyo Wandayi, Ali Hassan Joho, and Wycliffe Oparanya to Ruto’s cabinet.
“I was not surprised because of Ruto’s way of working. He will give you everything. He is a jack of all trades; I mean he can give out Treasury and Energy but remains the Minister. He will be the person running it,” Karua said.
“The new Mbadi I’m seeing is new to me. They will not deliver under Ruto; if they do, it will be a miracle of the century,” she said.
Relationship with Raila
She revealed that she has had a different opinion with Azimio Coalition leader Raila Odinga regarding joining the government since the tabling of the NADCO report.
“Even as a deputy, you can disagree with your leader, as NARC we can’t join Ruto’s government,” she said.
Karua maintained that President Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza government should resign as demanded by the youth.
She accused Ruto of knowing about the killings during the demonstrations but failing to take action against the police.

Joining Ruto’s Govt
Karua said she is not interested in joining the Kenya Kwanza government in any capacity or going back to Parliament.
When asked if she can accept the vacant Attorney General position, Karua said she won’t accept it since it will end up serving Ruto and not the people.
She reminded Kenyans that she was a minister of Justice during the reign of President Mwai Kibaki but resigned since they were not taking her advice.
Karua said former AG Justin Muturi also decried that Ruto was not taking his advice.
“I can’t join Ruto’s government, his aim is not to serve Kenyans. It will be a miracle if that cabinet delivers. He is tone deaf; he has not heard the pleas of the Kenyan people,” she said.
