Lawyer Miguna Miguna has criticized economist David Ndii for supporting the government’s decision to allocate Ksh1.1 billion annual bill to its group of advisors.
Ndii, who chairs President William Ruto’s Council of Economic Advisors, took to X to criticize Kenyans opposed to the news and compared the head of state’s advisors to a “small university”.
X user, Alchemist, questioned why President Ruto still needs advisors when he has the Cabinet Secretaries (CSs).
“Cabinet secretaries should be in a position to advise him if not, they should be replaced by his expensive advisors like David Ndii who may be wiser than whoever is holding those dockets,” Alchemist wrote.
In his response, Ndii reasoned that even Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of big companies like Safaricom and Equity still need advisors.
“Why do CEOs of companies like Safaricom and Equity that have top $ managers also retain expensive consultants? Why do Fortune 500 companies pay just three consulting firms McKinsey, Boston Consulting and Bain $30b a year?” he posed.

Miguna Fires at Ndii
However, this did not sit well with Miguna who argued that Ndii lost direction in his arguments.
Miguna slammed Ndii for comparing the government and public officers with private companies.
According to the lawyer, the presidential advisors are public servants, and their earnings should not be compared to those of fortune companies.
“David Ndii has lost direction and morals if he had any. The government of Kenya is not a private entity. Presidential advisors occupy public office, and their remuneration cannot be compared to those of consultants of Fortune 500 companies. Such sense of entitlement is disgusting,” Miguna said.

Miguna accused Ndii of defending the government’s wastage of public resources on things that don’t benefit Kenyans.
“Intellectual brilliance is not judged by the schools or universities one attended but by the depth of articulated thoughts, research, writing and contributions. When serving in public office, it’s judged by one’s recorded contributions and integrity,” Miguna said.
“David Ndii is desperate to justify wanton plunder of public resources through exploitative wages, first class air travel, five-star hotel accommodations and other wastage with zero visible positive results for 50 million Kenyans.”
Senator Sifuna
Earlier Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna stated that Ndii’s travel budget of Ksh88 million is equivalent to the entire annual foreign and domestic travel budget of 11 Senate Committees.
‘Ksh1.13 billion domestic travel and Ksh122 million foreign on a single vote. Ksh400 million for speakers’ office alone. Thats already Ksh1.7 billion on 2 votes. Do you take public for fools, or you are the idiot? I hope it’s the former, I fear it’s the latter,” Ndii responded.

Ndii Brags of Helping Kibaki
Besides, Ndii revealed that he was the brain behind the late President Mwai Kibaki’s NARCs Economic Recovery Strategy (ERS) and Kenya Kwanza Plan.
He explained that the Plan is way more ambitious and audacious than the ERS or Vision2030 adding that the Kenya Kwanza government is leading Africa and has gained global attention.
