Mombasa County Governor Abdulswamad Nassir has recorded a statement with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) regarding the alleged attack and sexual abuse of blogger Bruce John.
Nassir while speaking to the Media after recording the statement on Thursday October 3 emphasized that he had not been summoned by the DCI but instead, he made the unilateral decision to present himself to the detectives.
“I brought myself here on my own will because there is no one above the law. That cannot be. I have brought myself here as an example,” Nassir said.
He added that he would be able to present his mother to detectives if summoned in connection with the ongoing investigations.
” I have told them that if they do require my mother by all means I will bring her,” he said.
“They information that they required I have provided and whatever they required I have provided them with.”
At the same time, Nassir condemned the incident, stating that violence has no place in a modern democracy. He also expressed hope for justice for Bruce John.

Suspects Who Sodomize Blogger Bruce John Arraigned
On Tuesday, September 24, four suspects were arraigned at the Shanzu Law Courts in Mombasa and charged with abduction and sodomy.
The individuals—Abdul Athman, Violet Adera, Esther Muthoni, and Haji Babu—were accused of abducting and sodomizing Mombasa-based blogger Bruce on September 12, 2024.
Hassan and Babu faced additional charges of gang rape and assault with intent to cause actual bodily harm. Bruce recounted that a group of 20 county officers stormed his Bamburi home, assaulted him, and then sodomized him in the Miritini area before dumping him near the Mwakirunge dumpsite.
He explained that the assailants broke into his house and forced him to accompany them to an undisclosed location to apologize for his criticisms of the Mombasa County government.
Eventually, they wrapped him in a sack and left him at Mwakirunge, where he was rescued by a Good Samaritan after enduring hours of interrogation.
