Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has called out organizers of the Benny Hinn Crusade, accusing them of giving the televangelist a chance to air biased views on the Israeli Palestine war.
In a post on Sunday, February 25, Kuria voiced his concerns about Pastor Hinn’s remarks in the crusade. He noted that it was wrong to allow him air one-sided views on national television and in a function associated with the state.
He went on to restate Kenya’s stance of calling for cessation of hostilities between the two warring nations and at the same time standing in solidarity with Israel.
“It is wrong to give an Israeli preacher an opportunity to give one sided view on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict on National TV and in such a quasi-State function,” the CS noted.
“Kenya continues to call for a cessation of hostilities even as we show solidarity with Israel over the October 7th terror attacks. Kenya supports the rights of Palestinian people for self-determination.”
Benny Hinn, a Canadian American evangelist has his roots in Israel. Hinn, according to his biography, was born in Tel Aviv in Israel, and his father was the Mayor of the City called Haffa before they moved to America in the 1960s.
Kuria’s statement came hours after the curtains for the much-hyped Benny Hinn’s concert held at the Nyayo National Stadium fell.
President William Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto were among top dignitaries who graced the second day of the crusade held amid opposition and concerns surrounding its organization.

Also present were Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua alongside a host of top televangelists from Kenya.
Controversy surrounding Benny Hinn crusade
From the onset of the preparations for the coming of the celebrated TV evangelist, Kenyans from various quarters had voiced their concerns about the association of the crusade with people close to State House.
The Atheists Society of Kenya also issued a statement prior to Benny Hinn’s arrival and warned Kenyans to stay away from the event at Nyayo Stadium.

But First Lady Rachel Ruto dispelled the rumors that the crusade was state-funded insisting that it was fully funded by church leaders in Kenya. She, however, acknowledged having invited him to Kenya during her visit to the United States in 2023.
“The church has fully funded all that was needed to make the crusade a success,” First Lady Rachel Ruto said during her speech on Saturday, February 24.
“I thank Benny Hinn for accepting our request to come to Kenya. I can tell you it is a big honour. When I met him in Florida, he told me he had stopped going out of America.”
