Moses Kuria has been a household name in Kenya’s political scene over the years.
Known for his fiery and quite controversial remarks, Moses Kuria has served in different positions in parliament under different regimes.
Recently, Kuria was serving as the Cabinet Secretary (CS) for the Ministry of Public Service, performance and Delivery management before President William Ruto dissolved his cabinet dissolution on 11 July 2024.
Kuria took over the docket in 2023 after being moved from the ministry of Investments, Trade and industry.

Kuria is a seasoned public servant with 30 years of experience contributing to the social, political and economic space in Kenya.
He’s a distinguished professional with a long entrepreneurial career in manufacturing, banking and investment both in Kenya and internationally.

Moses Kuria Political Career
His political journey started when he joined the late President Mwai Kibaki’s team through retired President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Kanu Party.
Following the death of the Member of Parliament for Gatundu South, Joseph Ngugi in 2014, Kuria was elected unopposed as the new MP on a TNA party ticket. He was re-elected in 2017 and served until 2022 on a Jubilee Party ticket.
During his two terms as elected Member of Parliament for Gatundu South, he served as a member of various committees including Budget and Appropriations; Vice Chair, Transport, Infrastructure, Public Works and Housing; ICT and Energy; and member of the 14 Member Bicameral and Bipartisan Committee on Electoral Reforms.
Kuria is a skilled strategic thinker who has been called upon by local and international media to discuss topical issues. He has produced opinion articles in the national and international daily newspapers from 1992 to date. In 2017, he published a book – a collection of public interest articles spanning 25 years.
Following his graduation, Moses Kuria secured his first job as an auditor at Family finance and building society, gaining experience in the banking sector.
Subsequently, he joined Standard Chartered bank in 1995 as a manager.
Later, moved to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where he worked as a manager in Al Rajhi Bank, one of the world’s largest Islamic banks.

Educational Background
During his four-year tenure, he gained exposure to the global economy and its influencers.
Moses Kuria’s educational journey started in Githuya Primary School.
He completed his primary education in the year 1983 and proceeded to Thika High school, for his secondary education.
The legislator was admitted to the University of Nairobi (UoN), where he pursued Bachelor of Commerce degree and graduated in 1993.
